Corporate history highlights. The company was established in 1949 in New Haven, USA. Bernard Gantmacher's family enterprise started out by selling tailored men's shirts with innovative details like the locker loop, the box pleat, and the back collar button. In the 1980s the brand was acquired by Pyramid Sportswear, Sweden. The menswear only product range was extended to include clothing for kids, footwear, fragrances, timepieces, and homeware. But it was only in the beginning of the 21st century that Gant first launched its womenswear range. Gant advertising campaigns of the past featured Robert F Kennedy Jr., author and art theorist Susan Miller, ocean environmentalist Jean-Michel Cousteau, and others.
