Max Mara
Product range. Essential and precise womenswear: dresses, blouses, skirts, trousers, and coats. The company's broad double-breasted coats became a signature item back in the 1960s.
Originality. The company has a somewhat peculiar structure that lacks a creative director and relies on guest world's top designers for the development of collections and new lines. The latter included, inter alia, Karl Lagerfeld, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, and Dolce & Gabbana.
Chic. Max Mara clothing is a timeless classic. It constantly reinvents itself and looks fashionable regardless of the latest trends.
Pricing. Affordable, relative to other luxury apparel brands. A pair of trousers costs about €300, skirts are similarly priced. Dresses start from €200; handbags and outerwear start from €500.
Corporate history highlights. Max Mara was founded in 1951 in Reggio Emilia, Italy. Its founder Achille Maramotti, a law graduate, decided to dedicate himself to manufacturing women's clothing, a family passion since the late 19th century. Just like a number of other Italian fashion companies, Max Mara remains a family-owned enterprise, though nobody of the Maramottis was actually a fashion designer.
