Product range. Mostly wearproof T-shirts and tank tops that serve for years. Also, Esprit collections feature jumpers, hoodies, trousers, jeans, jackets, light down coats, long coats, dresses, shirts, footwear, and accessories.

Originality. Relaxed fit silhouettes, organic fabrics, and natural colours. Esprit offers both the pieces that nod to boho and classic office wear as well.

Chic. Esprit is a casuals specialist with little, if any, interest in being on-trend.

Pricing. Reasonable. Cardigans and dresses are available for £30 to £40, while natural leather jackets are never less than £130.

Corporate history highlights. Esprit was founded in San Francisco, in 1968. The company was established by Susie and Doug Tompkins, also known as the founders of The North Face. In the beginning, the couple could not afford renting a retail space, so they sold their first pieces out of the back of their old Volkswagen T1 bus (also known as Hippie-Bus). Susie was creating fashion designs, while Doug was busy tackling managerial and financial issues. It was only after the Tompkins met Michael Ying in 1971, that their small family-run business turned under his helm into Esprit de Corp.
