Its founder Achille Maramotti, a law graduate, decided to dedicate himself to manufacturing women's clothing, a family passion since the late 19th century. Just like a number of other Italian fashion companies, Max Mara remains a family-owned enterprise, though nobody of the Maramottis was actually a fashion designer.
