Intu Metrocentre, Gateshead – location and store directory

Getting there:

By car

intu Metrocentre is situated right on the A1. Heading from the South travel along the A1(M) northbound, from the A1 Washington Services (Birtley) keep to left at junction 65 and continue on A1 (signs for A1 Gateshead, Newcastle) for approx 6 miles, then exit left (signs for Metrocentre) and turn right onto Hollinside Road, continue through traffic lights towards Metrocentre. Heading from the North join the A1 southbound towards Newcastle and Gateshead (signs for The South A1M, Gateshead) and continue on A1 until you see exit sign for Metrocentre.

Parking at intu Metrocentre is free and has almost 10,000 parking spaces in four colour-coded parking areas, which link to the colour-coded malls. The Red & Green car parks generally close around 1 hour after trade. The Yellow & Blue Car Parks staying open until around 00.30. Electric car charging points are located on 3rd floor of the Yellow multi storey car park and near the main entrance in the Green car park.

By train
intu Metrocentre has its own train station. You can access intu Metrocentre from Newcastle Central Station, Sunderland, Teesside, County Durham and stations along the Tyne Valley Line to Carlisle.

By bus
intu Metrocentre is served by a comprehensive Circular Bus Service which calls at all four mall entrances, also calling at Metro Retail Park, Gala Bingo, Asda and Ikea. The service runs every 15 minutes.

By Metro
The Metro light rail system is a short bus ride away from both Newcastle and Gateshead centre via Monument, Central and Gateshead Metro stations. A transfare ticket on the Metro system allows transfer to any bus heading to intu Metrocentre.

By bike
Metrocentre is accessible by the National Cycle Network and a cycleway which runs around the outside of the Centre. There is covered secure cycle parking at each mall entrance and also at the entrance to House of Fraser.
